August 15 Watercolor Basics, 1:00 – 3:00 PM

Learn to mix luscious hues from professional tube watercolors and have fun painting a pre-printed illustration of your choice from the “Splash of Color” collection by Liz Libre.  Elizabeth will teach you how to mix an array of colors from the primary colors of red, yellow and blue, and how to apply paint to paper using the direct method and the wet-into-wet method.

August 29 Print-making with Gelli-Plates 1:00 – 3:00 PM

Enjoy one of the easiest and most fun methods of printmaking by using the Gelli-plate to create colorful printed papers for use as stand-alone prints or papers for collage projects.  Prints are made by rolling acrylic paints onto the plate, pressing designs and patterns into them, and then lifting the paint with various types of paper to create an array of surprising and unique results.

September 12  Painted Paper Collage – Postponed until further notice

Cut and glue colorful pieces of painted paper to create cards or a piece of collage art you can display in your special place at home.  If you have attended Elizabeth’s prior Gelli-print class, the papers created in that workshop will be perfect for this class.  You may also use papers from Elizabeth’s extensive stash.

September 26 Watercolor Stamp Carving – Postponed until further notice

Using the Speedball carving tool and Speedy-Cut rubber plates, you will create and carve one to three rubber stamps that you can use over and over again to stamp on greeting cards, to use in art journals, or to decorate papers and notebook covers.  In class we will stamp with watercolor paints, which yields a beautiful soft and hand-made effect.
